Infant Massage: Rates
History Resources Benefits Instruction Methods Rates FAQ |
Q: Do you massage my baby?
A: No. My role is to teach you, via demonstration, to massage your own child. I demonstrate massage strokes on a doll and then assist you to correctly imitate those strokes on your child.
Q: Are you a massage therapist?
A: No. I am a CIMI, which stands for Certified Infant Massage Instructor.
Q: What is your educational background?
A: I graduated magna cum laude from Boston University with a Bachelors of Science degree in Occupational Therapy and a minor in Psychology. Occupational therapy training heavily focuses on anatomy, physiology, biology, and neuroscience, giving me extensive background knowledge to apply to my practice of infant massage.
Q: Where are the infant massage sessions conducted?
A: Most typicaly the sessions are conducted in the parent's home so that the parent and baby are in a comfortable and familiar environment. Group sessions can be held at one of the participants homes or at an alternative location if desired arranged by group members.
Q: How should I set up my home in preparation for a session?
A: Because the babies are not fully clothed, the room temperature should be around 70 degrees to keep them comfortable. There should be a large cleared area to accomodate all adults sitting in a circle with their baby in front of them, and room for the instructor to walk around the group. If you would like, have a large blanket spread out in the center of the circle for the babies to lie on.
Q: What do I need to bring to a session?
A: Along with your adorable baby please bring a small blanket to lay your baby on. No other special equipment is necessary.
